Another feather in the hat, another true tale to tell, Netflix brings to you another movie based on a true story. “Tell me Who I am” was once a best-selling book, then a documentary on Netflix, and now being made into a movie. This movie is based on a true story and Netflix has acquired the rights to produce it. It is an adaptation of Alex and Marcus Lewi’s true story. Looking at its gripping storyline and serious theme, this movie can be an Oscar contender.
The theme of the story and a bit about its plot:
The film is based on Joanna Hodgkin’s book ‘Tell me who I am ‘. The story revolves around a pair of twins, one of whom wakes up one day to realize that he has forgotten his entire life. The only connection to his past and link to the reality he has is with his Identical Twin brother, who is his only hope for the future. But is everything that the twin tells true? Or is there a dark past, and deep secrets hidden away?
That’s the plot of the stories that people tell Alex about his past where he is confused between facts and fiction. Along the path to find his truth about the past Alex discovers the family secrets, shocking betrayals, and a tragedy that was kept secret, Alex finds redemption with his brother and tries to understand his true identity.
On this journey with Alex, his twin Mark has shown to be a companion who is scared, but he too ends up discovering secrets and reinvents himself throughout the journey. The story starts from the 1950’s high societies in the home counties to the remote Pacific and goes on the 90’s raves. This story of the twins re-inventing themselves throughout teaches us how we choose to tell our stories to others.
We are hoping the movie is also as good as the book and the documentary with the same name. The documentary was produced by “Hacksaw Ridge” producer: David Permut with the direction of Ed Perkins and the narrative by Alex and Mark Lewis themselves.
