Mumbai is often called”the “City of Dreams,” is the capital city of Maharashtra, the Indian State of Maharashtra and has several dry days throughout the year.
These days the selling of alcohol is legal.These events usually fall on the religious holidays of the nation and particular events restricted to the state.
Dry days are of significance in the religious and cultural life of the country, as they permit people to observe the national holidays and festivals of religion with respect and dignity.
In addition the purpose of these days is to encourage responsible drinking as well as reduce alcohol-related problems within the society.
By 2025 Mumbai is set to have 25 days of dry weather, during which selling alcohol is prohibited within Mumbai.On special occasions, such as Gandhi Jayanti, Republic Day or Independence Day, dry days will be observed across the country.
However, for occasions such as Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti and Ganesh Chaturthi, the dry-day regulations only apply in Mumbai as well as the State of Maharashtra.
